Dr. Amir H. Soltani, Au.D, RAUD
Registered Audiologist, Clinical Instructor at University of British ColumbiaDr. Soltani received his doctoral degree from The Arizona School of Health Sciences in Phoenix Arizona, and The A.T.STILL Osteopathic Medicine University in Kirksville, Missouri. Prior to this, he earned his Master of Science degree in Audiology from The Tehran Medical Science University. Dr. Soltani is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association as well as The Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA), BCASLPA, and is a member of The Academy of Doctors of Audiology. He is the clinical director and owner of the Downtown Vancouver and Burnaby Metrotown branches of Mainland Hearing Services. He is also a clinical instructor at The University of British Columbia. Dr. Soltani's main clinical interests include hearing instrument fitting and counseling, diagnostic audiology, electro-physiological assessment, vestibular assessment, and central auditory processing evaluations.
Dr. Navid Shahnaz, PhD, RAUD
Registered Audiologist and Associate Professor, University of British ColumbiaNavid is an Associate Professor of Audiology in the School of Audiology & Speech Sciences. He began his position at The University of British Columbia in July 2002. Before joining UBC he was an Assistant Professor of Speech and Hearing Sciences at University of Arizona. He received his M.Sc (1996) and Ph.D. (2000) degree in Audiology and communication sciences and disorders from The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, McGill University. During his residency at McGill University, he served as a faculty lecturer and clinical supervisor of audiology for 3 years. Before joining McGill University to pursue his studies he was working as a clinical audiologist, instructor, and researcher for six years at Tehran Medical Sciences University and in other private practice sectors in Tehran, Iran.
Kris Hewitt BC-HIS, RHIP
Hearing Instrument PractitionerKris joined our team in 2007, completed IIHIS training in 2008, and is registered with The College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC. He is completing studies through Grant MacEwan University and, following this, plans to complete a M.Sc. degree in Audiology at the University of British Columbia’s School of Audiology and Speech Sciences. He has contributed as a co-investigator to the school’s body of research for a prevalence study of Cochlear Dead Regions. Kris’ preferred areas of practice include aural rehabilitation and counselling, advanced digital hearing instrument and FM technology, and electrophysiological assessment. Outside of work, Kris is a foodie who enjoys music, reading, and sports.
Sharokh Soltani
Audiometric TechnicianShahrokh joined our team in 2009, and is completing his studies, working toward becoming a Hearing Instrument Practitioner. Prior to moving to Vancouver, Shahrokh completed a B.Sc. and worked as a hardware engineer. Outside of work, Shahrokh enjoys reading, soccer, and spending time with his family.
Laurel Whitmeyer
Customer Care RepresentativeLaurel has come to Mainland Hearing as a Customer Care Representative in 2011 with over 20 years of Customer Service behind her. Laurel enjoys contact with new people and solving problems. Born cheerful and artistic, she is a devoted wife, mother, new grandma & dog owner. She spends home time with family and friends, plays flute, paints, writes poetry, and various other hobbies. Laurel values her new contacts and hopes you will come in to meet her.

Caroline Haslam has been with Mainland Hearing Services since 2006 and has been in the forefront of the Customer Service Industry for 10 years. Caroline believes in making your visit to Mainland Hearing an enjoyable experience, will ensure that you are treated in a friendly, professional and respectful manner. Prior to working at Mainland Hearing she worked in Hudson’s Bay and participated in the Management training program. She has a husband, two teenagers and a dog named “Coco”. Her hobbies are taking her dog for walks along the beach, knitting and beading.

Customer Care RepresentativeChristine joined our team in 2008 as a Customer Care Representative and she takes pride in her work with a view toward providing excellent customer service. Christine enjoys meeting new people. Prior to arriving in Vancouver, Christine worked as an insurance advisor with an international insurance company in Singapore, providing professional consultations and advice on a range of insurance products and services. Christine completed a Diploma in Business and Administration and Marketing while in Singapore. Her interests include working out at the gym, inline skating, shopping, and traveling.

Before becoming part of our team, Parisa has worked in various fields such as pharmaceutical research , hospital labs, administration and retail. Outside of work, she likes to spend time with her husband and twin girls; she also enjoys walking, reading and making fashion jewellery.

Customer Care RepresentativeGail relocated to the Lower Mainland in 2010 and joined our team as a Customer Care Representative. She has several prior years of experience in this field and looks forward to continuing to provide her skilled level of care for our clients and their needs. Her past work experience has also included many years in tourism as a front office supervisor and in customer service administration. In her spare time, Gail enjoys exploring her new city, walking, hiking and reading.
